Where I’m From
By Lyla

I am from desert sand and silk finery.
From legions of ships crossing the sea.
From the smelting pot of old.

I am from thousand of thoughts becoming solid.
Wonder, oh, wonder.
It came undone.

I am from the ocean.
A fish that swims eternally.
Hearing the waves breath,
What seems like a whispered secret of old.

I am from the crusades.
A battle for the holy land.
I am from blue eyes and blonde hair.
From a gene lost in the centuries.

I am from the dark.
From a movie set and camera.
From a trembling hand holding a microphone.

This is what I am.
A picture of the same.
A wish that comes to be.
